Automobiles of Happy Days

Last weekend I went to a classic car show in my city and it was fantastic.

It was abundant with color and chrome. I saw colors like gelato that were popular for cars of a different era: aqua blue, orange, yellow, lime green, and pink! All the cars were so big and roomy, they could seat any large Italian family!

What also amazed me were the design details that have long disappeared from today’s automobiles: hood ornaments, heavy chrome bumpers, tail fins, rocket ship style taillights, vent windows, and fuzzy dice. I felt like I was living in the 1950’s.

500 of these beautiful vintage automobiles lined the walkways of my local park and we were free to stroll about, admire, and ask questions of the cars’ owners. Although the temptation was great, we were not allowed to touch! Too bad.

There are special clubs all over the country that host events such as this one for classic car owners, and this was my first experience....but not my last. I can only regret that my own car isn’t as cool as any that I saw last week.
